Ukrenergo pays more than UAH 6 bln to market participants from export auction revenues

KYIV. Sept 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrenergo has paid more than UAH 6 billion from proceeds from the sale of interstate cross-sections at export auctions to electricity market participants, head of the company Volodymyr Kudrytsky said on his Facebook page on Thursday.

"This week, Ukrenergo has paid the participants for balancing services and paid Guaranteed Buyer for services to increase the share of "green" generation. In total, Ukrenergo transferred more than UAH 6 billion to cover these two services. This is money that Ukrenergo earned at auctions for access to interstate power grids," he wrote.

According to Kudrytsky, the latest amendments to the law on the electricity market allowed the company to spend proceeds from export auctions specifically for settlements with the Guaranteed Buyer state enterprise to compensate for payments under the feed-in tariff for renewable energy generation, as well as to electricity producers providing services on the balancing market.

Ukrenergo, in particular, on September 14 transferred UAH 3 billion to Guaranteed Buyer, and on September 12 and September 5 – UAH 1.76 billion and UAH 1.25 billion to manufacturers for balancing services.

Thus, as of September 15, participants in the balancing market received a total of more than UAH 3 billion from the sale of interstate cross-sections.
