Ukrenergo introduces hourly blackout schedules on Friday; emergency ones are possible
KYIV. Nov 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – NPC Ukrenergo intends to limit itself to scheduled power blackouts on Friday, but given the increase in resource consumption due to cold weather, emergency blackouts are also possible.
"Today, November 18, hourly blackout schedules are used throughout Ukraine within the day. Additional emergency blackouts are possible," the company said on Facebook on Friday morning.
They said that due to a sharp cold snap, electricity consumption is increasing daily in the regions of Ukraine, where electricity supply has already been resumed after massive missile attacks on November 15 on the energy infrastructure.
"This complicates the already difficult situation in the energy system. Energy companies are forced to apply restrictions. This is a necessary measure to maintain the stability of the energy system after the sixth targeted missile attack by the Russians on energy facilities," the company said, stressing that repair teams are working around the clock to restore damaged infrastructure to return light to Ukrainians.
For their part, distribution system operators in their social networks are advised to follow updates on the situation with blackouts and schedules on their information platforms.
