Ukrainian, Polish parliaments to show high level of cooperation – Stefanchuk-Grodzki meeting
KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a meeting with Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Tomasz Grodzki in Warsaw on Monday, during which they discussed the issues of Ukrainian-Polish inter-parliamentary cooperation.
"We respect our history, but we look to the future, which will be filled with help, mutual respect and dignity. I believe the parliaments of Ukraine and Poland will show a high level of cooperation. We are ready to support all initiatives aimed at ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our countries," the Verkhovna Rada said on its website, citing Stefanchuk at the meeting with the Marshal of the Senate of Poland Grodzki in Warsaw on Monday.
According to him, the Ukrainian side values Poland as a reliable ally of Ukraine at the international stage. The head of the Verkhovna Rada expressed hope for strengthening the dialogue with international partners to contain large-scale military aggression in the region.
Stefanchuk said the Ukrainian-Polish dialogue "has a great historical basis, where relations […] are built on mutual support." He also drew attention to the results of a sociological survey on the opinion of Poles regarding NATO military support for Ukraine.
"I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that, according to sociological surveys, over 60% of Poles answered in the affirmative when asked about the need for NATO military support for Ukraine," the chairman of the Ukrainian parliament said.
