Ukrainian market of new passenger cars up by 27% in Jan-Aug
KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Primary registrations of new passenger cars in Ukraine in January-August this year increased by 27% compared to the same period in 2020, to 66,700 vehicles, the Ukrautoprom association reports.
According to the information on its website, in August registrations increased by 22% compared to August 2020, to 8,500 vehicles.
"This is the best August result over the past eight years," the association says.
At the same time, compared to July of this year, registrations decreased by 13%.
The best result in August, as in the previous year, was demonstrated by French Renault, retaining its leadership despite a drop in sales by 4.5%, to 1,274 vehicles.
Toyota retained its second position in August with only 14 cars less than the leader and a 10% increase in registrations versus August 2020.
The third line is confidently taken by Kia with a five-fold increase in sales, to 840 vehicles, which in August last year was 14th in the rating (and the third was Volkswagen).
Nissan has the fourth result – 446 cars (more by 59%) versus the seventh place a year earlier, and Skoda closes the top five with an increase of 49%, to 438 cars.
Mitsubishi also entered the top ten in August 2021 with 373 cars (more by 63%); Volkswagen – 370 cars (less by 34%); Chery – 367 cars (more by 151% and moved from the 17th line of the rating); Hyundai – 347 cars (more by 2%), and Suzuki – 297 cars (less by 4%).
The title of the bestseller in the Ukrainian market of new passenger cars went to the KIA Sportage crossover, which was chosen by 603 buyers.
