Ukrainian FM arrives in U.S. to discuss national security, Nord Stream 2, investments

KYIV. Nov 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has arrived in Washington for a meeting of the U.S.-Ukrainian Strategic Partnership Commission, where a new level of bilateral strategic partnership and U.S. support for Ukraine will be affirmed, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service said on Wednesday.

"There will be three cross-cutting themes at the meetings. Firstly, the security of Ukraine in the context of tensions we are observing in the east (Donbas) and in Belarus. Secondly, the energy security of Ukraine as an integral part of the broader security context. We will be discussing Nord Stream 2. Thirdly, the economic development of Ukraine, the attraction of U.S. investments, and an enlargement of trade turnover between our states," Kuleba told Ukrainian media outlets upon his arrival in Washington.

Kuleba noted the importance of signing a new charter of strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States. "It has a number of provisions on countering Russian aggression, which we deem to be important. This is proof of the absolute irreversibility of the U.S. policy of support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression," he said.

The U.S.-Ukrainian Strategic Partnership Commission will meet in Washington on November 10.
