Ukrainian diplomats checking if Ukrainians among Greece train crash casualties – MFA
KYIV. March 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian diplomats are checking whether there are Ukrainian citizens among the casualties in the collision of two trains in Evangelismos, Greece, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko has said.
“Ukrainian diplomats are already contacting the Greek authorities in order to check whether there are Ukrainians among those injured as a result of a train collision in Greece,” he said on Facebook on Wednesday morning.

As reported, two trains collided near Evangelismos 230 kilometers northwest from Athens.
The Greek railway company, Hellenic Train, said in a press release that there was “a head-on collision between two trains: a freight train and train IC 62 which had departed from Athens to Thessaloniki.”
As a result of the crash, several cars derailed and part of them went on fire. There were at least 350 people on the passenger train, Hellenic Train said.
The search and rescue operations continue on the crash scene.
