Ukrainian delegation discusses importance of full-fledged program with IMF with Fund chief in Washington

KYIV. Oct 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A Ukrainian delegation consisting of Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, his deputies and deputy governors of the National Bank at the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington discussed prospects for further cooperation with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

"On the agenda is our joint work with the Fund is macroeconomic resilience of Ukraine in the conditions of war and the importance of a full-fledged IMF program," Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova wrote on her Facebook after the meeting.

She thanked the IMF and its chief for vital support for Ukraine at a time when the country is in critical need of it.

Markarova said that the meeting was also attended by Deputy Finance Ministers Olha Zykova and Yuriy Drahanchuk, Government Commissioner for Debt Yuriy Butsa and Deputy Governors of the National Bank of Ukraine Serhiy Nikolaychuk and Yuriy Heletiy, and Alternate Executive Director at the IMF Vladyslav Rashkovan.

Marchenko also said on Facebook that the delegation of the Ministry of Finance had a meeting with World Bank Managing Director of Operations Axel van Trotsenburg, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde, World Bank Regional Country Director for Eastern Europe Arup Banerji and World Bank Group Executive Director Koen Davidse.

"There were constructive discussions on further cooperation and the implementation of potential programs for financing the state budget and restoring Ukraine. I received assurances from partners that support will remain strong in the future," the Finance Minister said on Facebook.
