KYIV. Feb 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Procurement specialists of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine will receive training at the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), their training is expected to start in a few weeks, Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov has said.
“This agreement has been reached during a meeting between Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg,” the Defense Ministry said on the Telegram channel on Thursday.
The ministry also quoted Reznikov as saying that “during the meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the development of the procurement system of the Defense Ministry in line with the principles of transparency and efficiency was discussed. We agreed on systematic cooperation in training personnel of the Defense Ministry on the basis of the NSPA and the development of procurement agencies that have already been created in the Defense Ministry.”
According to Reznikov, in fact, it is about the synchronization of all procurement procedures that will be used by the Defense Ministry with the standard procedures adopted by NATO.
“We plan that in a few weeks the training of the first group of specialists from the Defense Ministry’s procurement agencies will begin,” the minister said, adding that specific agreements were reached during a working meeting with representatives of the NSPA leadership.
“We agreed not only on training, but also on the modernization of our procurement system in accordance with NSPA standards and ensuring the further life cycle of weapons. We also discussed the deployment of such a program as part of a comprehensive NATO assistance package,” Reznikov said.
“Partners’ trust is important to Ukraine. It allows us to receive all the assistance provided by our partners,” the minister said.
