KYIV. Aug 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian authorities are moving as quickly as possible in the areas of combating corruption and implementing judicial reform, Matti Maasikas, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, has said.
It is in the areas of combating corruption and implementing judicial reform that the Ukrainian government is moving as quickly as possible. Ukraine has finally appointed the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine (SAPO). This recommendation has been implemented, Maasikas said in an interview with European Pravda publication on Wednesday.
He also drew attention to the fact that Maselko and Moroz, highly respected lawyers who are respected by a very active Ukrainian anti-corruption community, have been appointed to the High Council of Justice. According to him, the selection process for the new head of National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) is ready to start, there is also a positive development in the search for a new head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA).
He said that the corruption image was one of the main problems in the world that Ukraine had to overcome, and he is very glad that progress in this area is now fast.
