Ukraine's transport enterprises raise passenger traffic by 4.1% in eight months – statistics

KYIV. Sept 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian transport companies carried almost 1.73 billion passengers in January-August 2021, which is 4.1% more than in the same period in 2020, the State Statistics Service has reported.

The passenger turnover of transport companies in January-August 2021 amounted to 41.1 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 26.8% more than last year.

According to the State Statistics Service, 55.4 million passengers used rail transport in January-August (including city commuter train services), which is 21.6% more than in January-August 2020, and 718 million passengers were carried by road (more by 1.2%).

Air transport increased passenger traffic by 90.7%, to 5.9 million people.

In addition, according to the State Statistics Service, for the eight months of 2021, some 256.7 million passengers used trams (less by 6.4% compared to January-August 2020), metro – 304.8 million (20.8% more), trolleybuses – 388.8 million (3.3%more).

During the specified period, water transport carried 300,000 passengers (more than doubled).

The service said the figures are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol and part of the non-controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
