Ukraine's transformation plan to be considered at Ukrainian-U.S. Commission's meeting – Kuleba
KYIV. Sept 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held a meeting of the Ukrainian part of the Ukrainian-U.S. Strategic Partnership Commission, at which the Ukrainian side started preparing proposals for the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the Commission and the text of the new Charter of the Ukrainian-U.S. Strategic Partnership, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.
"The commission will not only resume its work, the presidents agreed that it will be strengthened and changed in such a way as to best meet the challenges facing our states. This is also a clear signal that there is political will in Washington, but also in Kyiv move our relationship forward," Kuleba said at an online briefing on Thursday.
The Foreign Minister said that while still in Washington, he instructed to convene the Ukrainian part of the Strategic Partnership Commission so that "without delay, without wasting a single hour or a single day," start working on the implementation of the presidents’ agreements and on the organization of the Commission’s meeting.
"Yesterday, a meeting of the Ukrainian part of the Commission was held at the Foreign Ministry. We set three tasks for our colleagues from other ministries and departments that are part of the Commission. Firstly, we will work on reforming the Commission, to make its structure more effective and secondly, we will submit to the American side the Ukrainian draft of a joint strategic partnership charter," Kuleba said.
The minister said the third task is to prepare a plan for Ukraine’s transformation.
"We will prepare a plan for Ukraine’s transformation, which was presented by the President in the United States, for consideration at a meeting of the Strategic Partnership Commission. The transformation plan is a set of specific investment projects in Ukraine that will change our state, make it stronger, and the Strategic Partnership Commission is a tool where these projects can be considered for finding funding and American business partners for their implementation," he said.
Kuleba also said the first Charter of the Ukrainian-U.S. Strategic Partnership was adopted back in 2008, but the world has changed and "we need a new basic document that will make our relations even stronger, even stronger."
