Ukraine's regional alliances form belt of security, prosperity for country – Kuleba

KYIV. Sept 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Regional alliances of Ukraine form a belt of security and prosperity for the government, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA) said, citing Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

"We stopped waiting for our partners to do something for us. We left it in the past. We believe in our country and are not afraid to take the first step, to be proactive," Kuleba said on the Freedom of Speech (Svoboda Slova) television program on ICTV on Monday.

The minister said that over the previous year and a half, Ukraine has created a number of new international formats aimed at forming a belt of security and prosperity for the country.

"The Lublin Triangle with Lithuania and Poland, the associated trio with Georgia and Moldova, the Crimea Platform are examples of Ukraine’s new proactive foreign policy, which forms a belt of security and prosperity for the government," the minister said.

Kuleba said that next week he will visit Warsaw, where he will speak with Polish and Lithuanian colleagues, in particular, regarding the situation in Belarus.

"For the first time in all the years of European integration, we have created the Associated Trio of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia in order to move together in the EU and better interact in the Black Sea region together with the EU and NATO countries," the minister said.

Kuleba also gave an example of Ukraine’s successful holding of the constituent summit of the Crimea Platform.
