Ukraine's PM discusses security in region, integration into EU, joint cross-border cooperation projects with Moldova's PM

KYIV. Feb 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean have discussed security issues in the region, integration into the European Union and joint cross-border cooperation projects.

“On February 24, the first online conversation between Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean took place. The parties discussed security issues in the region, integration into the European Union, joint projects of cross-border cooperation and support for Ukraine in connection with the full-scale aggression of Russia,” the press service of the government said.

According to Shmyhal, Ukraine and Moldova have good potential for developing relations in many areas: energy, logistics and transit, cross-border cooperation, and joint movement to the EU.

“We are ready to strengthen our cooperation with the Moldovan government in these and other areas,” he said.

The head of the Ukrainian government also said that Ukraine supports the position of Moldova regarding the need to withdraw Russian troops from the territory of Transnistria.

For his part, Recean said that Moldova remains a reliable friend of Ukraine and is ready to support the Peace Formula of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Shmyhal invited the Prime Minister of Moldova to visit Kyiv.
