Ukraine's path to NATO, EU requires deep, intensive reforms – Nuland
KYIV. Dec 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The path to NATO and the EU for Ukraine is being paved by Ukraine itself, and it requires deep and intensive reforms, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland has said.
At Kyiv Security Forum, Nuland said that for decades, the EU and NATO have kept the doors open for the countries of the East, and the United States has repeated these open doors at every opportunity, including in NATO documents this year and in the new U.S.-Ukrainian strategic charter. According to the official, path to NATO and the EU for Ukraine is being paved by Ukraine itself, and it requires deep and intensive reforms of Ukrainian entire system, economy, free and independent judiciary, anti-corruption steps.
She said that Ukraine has worked hard on many of these for many years, but there is still much to be done.
