Ukraine's MFA refutes Russia's statements saying OSCE SMM's reports allegedly contain confirmation of offensive actions of Ukrainian Armed Forces
KYIV. Nov 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Russia’s statements about the alleged presence in the reports of the OSCE special monitoring mission (SMM) of statements about the offensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not correspond to reality, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko has said.
"The Russian Federation started to discredit the work of the OSCE special monitoring mission with a new fervor. Applications on the foregoing in its statements of statements about the offensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not correspond to reality," the spokesperson told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
In his opinion, such insinuations have one goal, namely to provide an informational cover with Russian troops against the background of the exacerbation of them by the security situation in Donbas and along the Ukrainian border.
"What the reports of the OSCE SMM reports are about the systemic restrictions on freedom of movement at temporarily occupied territories, blocking the means of communication and observation, the threats of personal safety of international observers from the Armed Formations of the Russian Federation. The situation has acquired such unprecedented scale, which forced the head of the OSCE SMM in early November to officially apply to unlock the work of the Mission in the regions uncontrolled by the Ukrainian government. Russia ignored this appeal like other similar appeals of the international community," said Nikolenko.
He stressed that increasing the intensity of Russian disinformation, the threat of Russian officials to Ukraine indicate that the logic of conflict continues to be guided in Moscow.
"That is why Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and the entire Foreign Ministry will now consolidate the support of international partners as much as possible to strengthen the safety of our state and its citizens and hold back Russia from further aggressive actions," Nikolenko summed up.
Earlier, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova stated that alleged reports of the OSCE SMM testify to the offensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of settlements of Hranytne and Staromaryivka.
