Ukraine's MFA builds on success of Crimea Platform, turns it into permanent, influential format – Kuleba
KYIV. Dec 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has held a separate event dubbed "Crimea Platform: Moving Forward" on the sidelines of the 28th meeting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers Council.
Albania, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Switzerland, Romania, Turkey, Great Britain, United States of America were co-organizers of the event together with Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said on Thursday.
"The event was attended by distinguished foreign guests: the foreign ministers of Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, Czech Republic, representatives of the foreign ministries of Georgia, Turkey, EU, USA, Germany," the message says.
It notes that during the event, Kuleba presented elements of the long-term activities of the Crimea Platform and joint actions of the participating countries in five priority areas: the policy of non-recognition, sanctions, security, human rights and international humanitarian law, economic and environmental consequences of the occupation.
The minister also summed up the first results of the work on the formation of the internal architecture of the new coordination mechanism.
"The founding summit of the Crimea Platform in Kyiv was a historic event. Now we are actively developing its success and transforming the Crimea Platform into a permanent, influential format," the head of Ukrainian diplomacy stressed.
He also proposed a number of priority projects within the Crimea Platform, including the development of a modern policy of non-recognition of the attempted annexation; strengthening the effectiveness of sanctions; establishing a quick and coordinated international response to protect human rights, protect Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar identity, cultural heritage in Crimea; study of economic damage from the occupation and monitoring of the state of the environment.
The minister stressed the importance of developing expert diplomacy and cooperation between the Foreign Ministry and the expert network of the Crimea Platform.
"We see that the world is not indifferent to the occupation and attempts to annex Crimea. By joint efforts we will ensure that this indifference is victorious and that Crimea returns to Ukraine," Kuleba summed up.
