Ukraine's hydrogen strategy to be presented in spring 2022 – Energy Ministry
KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The final version of Ukraine’s Hydrogen Strategy should be prepared next spring, the press service of the Ministry of Energy said following a meeting of the working group on developing the strategy.
At the same time, as previously reported with reference to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of July 30 of this year, which was put into effect by presidential decree No. 452 of August 28, the government shall adopt Ukraine’s Hydrogen Strategy and approve an action plan for its implementation by December 31 of 2021.
The Ministry of Energy noted that the document will take into account all stages of the development of hydrogen energy in Ukraine: production, transportation and storage of hydrogen – and will include an analysis of the resource potential for hydrogen production.
"When developing a hydrogen strategy, it is very important to exchange views, knowledge and research results in this innovative area. We must analyze the potential of our state and choose the most effective ways to implement it. At the next stage of work on the strategy, we will study the initial forecast for the development of demand in Ukraine and the first consumers of hydrogen," Deputy Energy Minister Yulia Pidkomorna is cited in the message.
The meeting of the working group was held with the participation of experts from the Ministry of Energy, specialists from the USAID Energy Security Project, the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, industry experts, representatives of profile associations and research organizations.
"To draft a high-quality document, the opinion of experts, the position of stakeholders and the experience of market participants who are already implementing pilot projects are very important. The writing of the strategy itself will begin after the proposals of all interested parties have been worked out," the deputy minister said.
