Ukraine's Health Ministry to cooperate with United States in creating Ukrainian Health System Development Strategy until 2030 – Liashko
KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian Ministry of Health and the U.S. Department of Health will collaborate to create a Strategic Plan for the Public Health System Development until 2030.
Head of the department Viktor Liashko and U.S. Minister of Health Xavier Becerra agreed during a meeting as part of a working visit to the United States of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"We agreed on cooperation between the ministries in terms of expert assistance in writing a Strategic Plan for the Public Health System Development until 2030. The development of this plan is provided for by a presidential decree, as a document that for the first time systematizes the country’s intention to provide universal access to health services, and is combined with the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals," Liashko said on Facebook.
According to Liashko, the ministers also discussed the possibility of cooperation with the U.S. National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA, the United States). As well as possible cooperation with AMA (American Medical Association) and APHA (American Public Health Association) in the development of medical self-government in Ukraine.
In addition, the ministers discussed the continuation of cooperation between the countries within the Global Health Security Agenda.
"This cooperation is aimed at preventing the spread and early detection of infectious diseases, as well as forming an adequate response of the medical system to biological threats. We also discussed the countries’ response to coronavirus (COVID-19), approaches to the vaccination campaign, and the launch of the process of introducing the third (booster) dose of vaccine against COVID-19 and vaccination of adolescents," Liashko said.
