Ukraine's first 1 MW gas turbine plant to start operating in Irpin – NEURC head
KYIV. Jan 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A gas turbine plant with a capacity of 1 MW, which will be the first in Ukraine, will be opened in Irpin on January 31, head of the National Energy Regulator (NEURC) Kostiantyn Uschapovsky said.
"Tomorrow you have a landmark event – the opening of the first gas turbine station in Ukraine, which will make it possible to power, if necessary, the entire critical energy infrastructure of the city," Uschapovsky said during a commission meeting on Monday, referring to the mayor of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn, who was present at this meeting.
Markushyn, for his part, confirmed the information about the opening of the plant, specifying that its capacity is 1 MW.
As reported, at the end of December 2022, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, called gas turbine and gas piston mini-power plants one of the options for creating alternative mobile generation in the face of damage to existing generation by Russian shelling.
