Ukraine's Energy Minister, top managers of Energoatom, Westinghouse Electric discuss further cooperation

KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko and the leadership of Energoatom and Westinghouse Electric in the United States during a working visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed plans to deepen Ukrainian-U.S. cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, the ministry said on Facebook on Wednesday.

According to the report, they talked about the implementation of Ukraine’s European integration aspirations and joint projects with the possibility of attracting U.S. financial institutions to them.

In the presence of the minister, the heads of both companies signed a letter of intent confirming the agreements reached and defining new areas of cooperation in the future, in addition to the construction of new nuclear power units, the ministry said.

"Deepening the partnership between Energoatom and Westinghouse will help enhance the energy security of our state. We will expand cooperation with the U.S. company with a focus on energy security and independence of Ukraine," the press service said, citing Haluschenko.
