KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine and the United States have signed an agreement on cooperation on the use of information about those who travel, Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhiy Deineko said.

"In Washington, being part of an official delegation headed by the President of Ukraine, he signed with Francis J. Russo [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] an agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the United States on cooperation in the use of information about those who travel. This is an important step of our strategic partnership in the security sector. In addition, in Ukraine there is a foundation for the creation of a national system for detecting terrorist threats and countering cross-border crime, according to the best world practice," he said on Facebook on Wednesday evening.

According to the head of the State Border Guard Service, "in fact, a new level of cooperation has been established between our states and border agencies in the use of information and risk analysis, which is aimed at protecting borders and identifying criminals."

"Without exaggeration, this agreement will increase the border and national security of both Ukraine and the United States," Deineko said.

He said the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine will make every effort for the early deployment and use of the Automated Targeting System – Global (ATS-G) in Ukraine, which is one of the main priorities of the department.
