Ukraine, U.S. sign agreement on establishment of secure line for communication
KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Administration of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine and the U.S. State Department have signed an agreement on the establishment of a secure line for communication, the office of the President of Ukraine said in a statement.
"The document provides for the existence of a secure line for communication, provides a stable special channel of communication between Ukraine and the United States, demonstrates the preservation and strengthening of bilateral trust between Kyiv and Washington, meets the common Ukrainian-U.S. interests in strengthening peace and international security, helps to reduce threats and increases the effectiveness of the implementation of functions by those involved national government authorities," the press service said.
Also, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection entered into an agreement between the governments of the countries on the use of information about those who travel.
"This is another step towards increasing the level of border and national security of both Ukraine and the United States, and an important step in strategic partnership," the press service said.
Also, Ukraine will be assisted in the deployment of the ATS-GLOBAL Automated Targeting System, which is an effective tool for risk analysis.
"Appropriate hardware and software will facilitate high-quality screening of travelers and the identification of persons with a high risk of involvement in terrorist threats or cross-border crime, as well as the identification of international criminals," the office of the President of Ukraine said.
The agreements reached also establish individual and organizational responsibilities for data security, updating risk profiles and creating new profiles, exchanging information, regulating information relations.
The agreement was signed during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States.
