Ukraine to switch to 'winter time' on Sunday

KYIV. Oct 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – On the night of Sunday, October 31, Ukraine will switch to "winter time". At 4:00 the clock will be set back one hour.

According to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 509 of May 13, 1996, every year on the last Sunday of October at 4:00 am the clock is set back one hour.

At the same time, every year on the last Sunday of March at 3:00 am, the clock is switched to "summer time" one hour ahead.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada will return to consideration of the bill on the refusal of the transition to "summer time" in winter. This was stated by chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the author of the bill Ruslan Stefanchuk.

"What happened is that we switched to summer time, and it seems to me that it makes no sense to vote it [the bill] during summer time, because the ideology that was laid down in this bill is to keep the natural time for Ukraine +2, and this is winter time. Therefore, I think that after Ukraine switches to winter time, this discussion should be raised again," Stefanchuk said, explaining why the bill was not voted at the final reading.
