Ukraine to impose sanctions against elections to Russian State Duma in Donbas, Crimea, including against observers – Danilov
KYIV. Sept 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine will impose sanctions due to the holding of elections to the Russian State Duma in temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as the Crimean peninsula, in relation to all participants in the electoral process, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov said.
"The overwhelming majority of sanctions concern the issues that exist today in the occupied territories of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions – these are elections to the so-called State Duma of Russia. We are sure that Russia has no right to hold elections in these territories, therefore all participants in this process who take part, members of election commissions, agitators, candidates, all observers who are officials in these elections will be sanctioned by our country," Danilov said during a briefing, following the NSDC meeting on Friday.
According to him, the NSDC has already worked out the first list of such persons. "Sanctions will soon be imposed on all, without exception, such persons by presidential decree," Danilov said.
