Ukraine to become member of NATO in long term, now main task is to ensure country's victory over Russia as sovereign and independent state – Stoltenberg
KYIV. Feb 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine will become a full member of the North Atlantic Alliance in the long term, but now the main task is to ensure its victory over the Russian Federation as a sovereign and independent state, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.
Stoltenberg said during his visit to Helsinki that NATO allies had agreed that Ukraine would become a member of our alliance, but this is a long-term prospect. He added that now they are expecting that Ukraine will prevail as a sovereign independent country.
According to the Secretary General, after the end of the war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, the Alliance must ensure that history does not repeat itself.
