Ukraine threshes 11.15 mln tonnes of corn – Agrarian Policy Ministry

KYIV. Oct 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine continues to harvest grain and leguminous crops, as of October 21, some 11.15 million tonnes of corn were harvested ( plus 4.23 million tonnes in the week of October 13-21) from 1.76 million hectares (32% of the planned area), the Ministry Agrarian Policy and Food said on its website Friday night.

According to the report, in general, this season, 74.49 million tonnes (plus 6.61 million tonnes per week) of major cereals, legumes, oilseeds (as well as sugar beets were dug out) were harvested from a total area of 19.59 million hectares.

According to the ministry, as of the indicated date, the collection of winter wheat, barley, peas has been completed, and the collection of these spring crops is underway: in total, 49.3 million tonnes of them have been harvested from 11.2 million hectares.

The leaders in the threshing of grain and leguminous crops were Odesa region with 4.47 million tonnes, as well as Kharkiv (4.41 million tonnes), Dnipropetrovsk (4.35 million tonnes), Mykolaiv (3.77 million tonnes), Zaporizhia (3, 36 million tonnes), and Kherson (3.41 million tonnes) regions.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy clarified that as of the indicated date, 12.68 million tonnes of sunflower (plus 1.77 million tonnes) were harvested from 5.38 million hectares (83% of the forecast).

Ukrainian farmers also harvested 6.23 million tonnes (+1.6 million tonnes) of sugar beet from 133.480 hectares (59% of the forecast).
