Ukraine, the Netherlands sign agreement on immunities of police liaison officers posted to Europol
KYIV. Sept 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine and the Netherlands have signed an Agreement between Ukraine and the Kingdom of the Netherlands on the privileges and immunities of liaison officers sent by Ukraine to Europol, the Communications Department of the National Police of Ukraine said.
The relevant document on Monday during an official meeting was signed by Chief of the National Police of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko and Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine Jennes de Mol.
The agreement is aimed at standardizing the issue of security guarantees and protection of Ukrainian liaison officers in the performance of their tasks in Europol.
"This agreement is a very important step in our further cooperation, and therefore in the joint counteraction of transnational crime," the National Police chief said.
The implementation of this agreement will allow sending police officers to Europol in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine resolution No. 494 on sending liaison officers to the European Police Office, dated May 22, 2019.
"This is the strengthening of cooperation between Ukraine, Europol and the member states of the European Union in the prevention and fight against international crime within Ukraine’s commitments in the European integration," Klymenko said.
