Ukraine stands for comprehensive package of counteraction against Russia’s aggressive intentions – Kuleba

KYIV. Nov 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine stands for a comprehensive package of counteraction against the aggressive intentions of the Kremlin, which includes political and economic containment of Russia, as well as military assistance to Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.

“The main goal is to restrain Russia from further aggressive actions. For this, Moscow must clearly understand what political, economic and human losses it will incur in the event of a new stage of aggression. Ukraine stands for a comprehensive package of counteraction against the Kremlin’s aggressive intentions. It includes political and economic containment. Russia, as well as military aid to Ukraine,” Kuleba said at an online briefing on Thursday.

The minister said the security situation along the state border of Ukraine and in the temporarily occupied territories continues to be tense due to the Russian actions.

“The buildup of Russian troops, intensive aerial reconnaissance, threats to Ukraine from Russian officials at various levels, Russia’s deliberate blocking of the Normandy format and the Trilateral Contact Group, all this should be considered as components of a single aggressive policy of Russia against Ukraine,” he said.

Kuleba said that on behalf of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working 24/7 in order to maintain and strengthen international support for Ukraine, primarily in matters of military and security cooperation.

He said the key task of diplomats is to organize a high level of international support to achieve the main goal, so that there is no new wave of war.

“We are not trying to guess what is in Putin’s thoughts, this is a thankless task. We are working to ensure that there is a clear understanding in it: a new attack on Ukraine will be too expensive, so it is better not to do this,” he said.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister said that recently the tone of signals from the international community towards the Kremlin has become much tougher.

According to him, the European Union, NATO, the United States, Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Sweden, the Baltic states, Poland and a number of other partners have already supported Ukraine and warned Russia against escalation.

“In a number of world capitals, concrete economic measures are being developed that can hurt the Russian economy and the wallets of the Russian rich. Ukraine is receiving a new strengthening of its defense capability, new weapons for our army. All these steps do not just enhance the security of Ukraine. They help increase the security of every Ukrainian. We are working to ensure that the citizens of Ukraine are confident in the strength of our army, our diplomacy and the determination of our partners,” he said.
