Ukraine reduces scrap procurement by 77% for 11 months – UAVtormet
KYIV. Dec 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ferrous scrap metal enterprises in January-November of this year reduced scrap metal procurement by 76.6% compared to the same period last year – to 886,100 tonnes from 3.784 million tonnes.
According to the recent information of the UAVtormet association, the export of scrap metal for the specified period amounted to 42,000 tonnes, which is 13 times less compared to 11 months of 2021 (547,500 tonnes). At the same time, scrap imports amounted to 2,300 tonnes, while in January-November 2021 – 21,300 tonnes.
The supply of scrap to the country’s steel enterprises for 11 months of 2022 decreased by 72.4% compared to January-November-2021 – to 841,900 tonnes from 3.056 million tonnes.
As of December 1, 2022, the level of scrap metal stocks at Ukrainian steel enterprises was estimated at 30,000-35,000 tonnes.
