Ukraine reduces iron ore exports by 46%, revenue by 58% in 2022
KYIV. Jan 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine’s mining enterprises in 2022 reduced the export of iron ore raw materials in quantity terms by 45.9% compared to the previous year, to 23.985 million tonnes.
According to statistics published by the State Customs Service, for the specified period, foreign exchange earnings from the export of iron ore decreased by 57.8%, to $2.913 billion.
Iron ore was exported mainly to Slovakia (19.23% of supplies in monetary terms), the Czech Republic (17.32%) and Poland (16.49%).
Over the specified period, iron ore was imported to Ukraine for $65,000 in a total volume of 101 tonnes, while in 2021 – for $184,000 in the amount of 1,202 tonnes.
Iron ore was imported from Norway (36.92%), the Netherlands (27.69%) and the UK (16.92%).
