Ukraine receives more than 9,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid worth UAH 12.7 bln since beginning of war – Dpty Health Minister
KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine received more than 9,000 tonnes of medical humanitarian aid worth around UAH 12.7 billion since the beginning of the war, Deputy Health Minister of Ukraine Maria Karchevych has said.
"Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine received more than 9,000 tonnes of medical humanitarian aid. Its total cost is estimated at UAH 12.7 billion," she said on air of the national telethon on Wednesday.
More than 35 countries of the world sent their assistance to Ukraine, Karchevych said.
"It was a very different assistance, ranging from medicines, equipment, medical transport and innovative telemedicine equipment that we use to make medical care more accessible," she said.
The official also said that the MedData system is used to control the supply and distribution of medical humanitarian aid as it accumulates information, in particular, on the needs of medical institutions and takes into account the medical humanitarian aid that has arrived in Ukraine.
The deputy minister also said that the UNITED24 platform managed to raise more than UAH 900 million for medical needs.
The raised funds were directed, in particular, to the purchase of ambulance vehicles, which were distributed among the front-line regions.
"Since the beginning of the war, 399 ambulance vehicles have been damaged or lost, including cars stolen by occupiers," she said.
Karchevych noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, some 1,157 medical facilities have been damaged or completely destroyed.
The funds raised through the UNITED24 platform, in particular, were used to restore hospital No. 3 in Chernihiv.
