Ukraine receives 100 additional basic quotas for intl road freight transport for 2023

KYIV. Oct 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine has received 100 additional ECMT (European Conference of Ministers of Transport) basic quotas, as a result, the volume of quotas for 2023 is 27% more than for 2022.

As reported on the page of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine on Facebook on Wednesday, these quotas will allow unhindered transportation of goods by trucks through the territories of the countries participating in the ECMT multilateral quota system.

"In total, next year Ukraine will have 475 base quotas. This is 27% more than we had in 2022 and the last few years. This decision was finally made the day before by the Group on Road Transport of the International Transport Forum in Paris. Additional quotas will improve export capacity Ukraine and will allow maintaining a stable supply chain of goods between our country and the ECMT member countries," the ministry said.

The Ministry of Infrastructure also recalled that earlier this year, Ukraine signed an agreement with the EU, allowing without special permits to carry out only bilateral and transit transportation to 27 European countries.

ECMT permits are needed for carriers travelling to 52 ECMT member countries and allow not only bilateral and transit transportation of goods, but also their transportation from/to third countries.

The acceptance of electronic questionnaires from road carriers for participation in the competition for the distribution of ECMT permits for 2023 is from October 1 to October 31. This year, for the first time, the competition will be held through the Shlyakh electronic system.
