Ukraine positively assesses European Parliament's report on future of EU-Russian relations – FM
KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine positively assesses the report of the European Parliament on the future of relations between the European Union and Russia, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.
"The document is good. Ukraine assesses it positively. Therefore, I welcome the adoption by the European Parliament of the report on political relations between the EU and Russia," Kuleba said at an online briefing on Thursday.
The Foreign Minister said it is important for Ukraine that this report points out the impossibility of returning to normal cooperation between the EU and Russia until the territorial integrity of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine is restored within the internationally recognized borders.
"It is very important for us that one of the main approaches that the European Parliament has defined in relations with Russia is the impossibility of returning to normal cooperation, what is called ‘business as usual,’ until Russia stops its aggressive policy and hybrid war against the EU, countries of the Eastern Partnership, to which Ukraine belongs, and the territorial integrity of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine will not be renewed within the internationally recognized borders," Kuleba said.
According to the minister, the European Parliament also recommends that the EU prepare for a further expansion of sanctions against Russia, in particular, in this regard, one recalls Russia’s activities due to Nord Stream 2.
"And it is especially important for us that the European Parliament heard Ukraine and did not leave unnoticed the recent brutal arrests of Nariman Dzhelyal and four other Crimean Tatar leaders in Crimea by the occupying authorities, they are also mentioned in this report of the European Parliament. And the European Parliament also supported the Crimea Platform, which is also important for us," Kuleba said.
