Ukraine, its partners discuss creation of hub for repair of NATO artillery in EU– Shmyhal

KYIV. Sept 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced Ukraine’s negotiations with partners on the creation of an additional hub for the repair of NATO artillery in the European Union.

"The European Peace Facility has been increased to EUR 2.5 billion. This means an additional EUR 500 million for weapons for our army. Germany also plans to increase the supply of certain types of heavy weapons, including air defense forces," Shmyhal said at a government meeting in Wednesday.

According to him, five more Gepard artillery mounts were handed over to Ukraine this week, and the first of three modern German-made IRIS-T air defense systems should be put into service in the near future, which will help protect cities from Russian missiles.

"In addition, we discussed the creation of an additional hub for the repair of NATO artillery in the EU. Another part of our agreements is not public now. But we are sure that this will be converted into many unpleasant surprises for our enemies," Shmyhal said.
