Ukraine increases number of vaccinated against COVID-19 by 4.1 mln over month to fulfill terms of memorandum with IMF
KYIV. Nov 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Over the last month of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Ukraine, some 4,117,000 people were vaccinated with one dose, and 3,428,000 people were fully immunized and received two doses.
As the press service of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported on November 25, since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, 13,083,000 people were vaccinated with one dose, and 10,418,000 people were fully immunized and received two doses. At the same time, in the summary for October 25, it was reported that 8,960,000 people were vaccinated with one dose of the vaccine, and 6,990,000 people were fully immunized and received two doses.
Thus, in order to reach the figure of 17 million vaccinated, provided for by the updated Memorandum on Economic and Financial Policy with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), at least 3,883,000 people in Ukraine should be vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the year.
As reported, in the updated Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policy with the IMF, within the framework of the stand by program, Ukraine set the goal to bring the level of vaccination against COVID-19 to at least 17 million people by the end of 2021.
Given the importance of vaccination as the key to sustainable economic recovery, Ukraine has ensured enough vaccines to do so, according to a document the IMF released Wednesday. In turn, the Fund indicated the low level of vaccination in Ukraine as one of the risks for the early recovery of its economy.
