Ukraine increases imports of aluminum ores by 2.1% in Jan-Aug
KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine in January-August this year increased imports of aluminum ores and concentrate (bauxite) in quantity terms by 2.1% compared to the same period last year, to 3.382 million tonnes.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service on Wednesday, during this period, bauxite imports in monetary terms increased by 6%, to $154.247 million.
At the same time, the products were mainly imported from Guinea (60.01% of supplies in monetary terms), Brazil (20.24%) and Ghana (17.85%).
In January-August 2021, Ukraine re-exported 225 tonnes of bauxite for $57,000 to Belarus (59.65%), Poland (35.09%) and Germany (5.26%).
Mykolaiv Alumina Refinery LLC imports bauxite into Ukraine, the company is affiliated with United Company RUSAL (Russia). Alumina is produced from bauxite.
