Ukraine increases coal imports by 14% in Jan-Sept
KYIV. Oct 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine in January-September 2021 increased imports of hard coal and anthracite (according to foreign economic activity code 2701) by 14% (by 1.782 million tonnes) compared to the same period in 2020, to 14.499 million tonnes.
According to the State Customs Service, coal was imported for $1.511 billion, which is 14.3% more than in January-September 2020 ($1.322 billion).
Coal was imported from the Russian Federation for $961.433 million (share in imports 63.61%), the United States – for $312.106 million (20.65%), Kazakhstan – for $165.488 million (10.95%), and other countries – for $72.43 million (4.79%).
Ukraine’s coal exports in January-September 2021 amounted to 4,979 tonnes for $800,000, including to Slovakia for $768,000, Hungary – for $18,000, Bulgaria – for $7,000, and other countries for $7,000. In January-September 2020, Ukraine exported 2,024 tonnes of coal for $163,000, including for $156,000 to Poland and for $7,000 to Moldova.
