Ukraine in Jan-March cuts FX earnings from export of ferrous metals by 75% vs Q1 2022, gradually closing gap

KYIV. April 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises in January-March of this year reduced revenues from the export of ferrous metals by 75% compared to the same period last year, to $583.689 million from $2.365 billion.

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service on Monday, ferrous metals accounted for 5.66% of total merchandise export earnings over this period, compared to 16.8% in January-March 2022.

In March, proceeds from the export of ferrous metals amounted to $226.613 million.

At the same time, over the three months of this year, Ukraine increased imports of similar products by 4.5%, to $260.487 million. In March, products worth $97.092 million were imported.

In addition, in January-March, Ukraine reduced the export of metal products by 9.6%, to $243.726 million. In March, they were exported for $97.560 million.

At the same time, imports of metal products in the first quarter decreased by 30.1%, to $174.191 million. In March, these products were delivered to Ukraine for $65.659 million.
