Ukraine in 2022/23 MY exports record volumes of soybeans for three seasons – APK-Inform
KYIV. Nov 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Since the beginning of the 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, September 2022 – August 2023), Ukraine has exported 465,000 tonnes of soybeans, which is 2.5 times higher than the export figure for the same period last season and became the maximum for the last three marketing years.
At the same time, soybean exports in October 2022 amounted to 215,000 tonnes, having decreased by 14% compared to the previous month, but the volumes of soybeans supplied to foreign markets in October exceeded the figures for October last year by 24%.
It is specified that one of the reasons for the decline in exports in October was the slowdown in trade in Ukrainian seaports due to the uncertainty of the prospects for the grain deal.
The main importers of soybeans from Ukraine were the EU countries (46% share) and Turkey (37%), which increased the purchase of Ukrainian soybeans in September-October 2022, respectively, by six times and two times compared to the same period in 2021/22 MY.
