Ukraine, Hungary continue cooperation within framework of commission on ensuring rights of national minorities

KYIV. Sept 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Co-chairs of the joint Ukrainian-Hungarian commission on the issues of ensuring the rights of national minorities, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar and Plenipotentiary of the Minister of Foreign Economy and Foreign Affairs of Hungary for the development of the neighborhood policy Ferenc Kalmar, discussed the preparation of the next meeting of the commission.

Bodnar expressed confidence that the dialogue between Ukraine and Hungary within the framework of the commission’s activities would contribute to the proper provision of the rights of the Ukrainian minority in Hungary and the Hungarian minority in Ukraine in accordance with the national legislation of the parties, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

"This, in turn, will strengthen good-neighborly mutually beneficial relations between our countries," said the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine.

The diplomats agreed that the next meeting of the joint Ukrainian-Hungarian commission on ensuring the rights of national minorities will be held in Kyiv in the near future.

Bodnar and Kalmar also noted the progress in implementing the results of the 3rd meeting of the Ukrainian-Hungarian interagency working group on education, held in Uzhgorod on September 16.
