Ukraine exports over 7 mln tonnes of agricultural products in Nov – UCAB

KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In November 2022, Ukraine exported 7.2 million tonnes of agricultural products, which is 4% more than in the previous month, according to the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) on Monday.

According to the association, this is a very good indicator, given the difficulties with the functioning of the "grain" corridor in November. During the month, it managed to export 2.6 million tonnes of agricultural products compared to 4.2 million tonnes in October, and the rest of the volumes were exported by alternative routes.

UCAB noted that 4.7 million tonnes of grain crops were exported in November, which exceeds October figures by 4%. In terms of crops, 2.54 million tonnes of corn (54% of the total), 1.79 million tonnes of wheat (38%) and 376,000 tonnes of barley (8%) were supplied to foreign markets.

Ukraine during the specified period also exported 1.3 million tonnes of oilseeds, which is 10% more than in October. A total of 520,000 tonnes of rapeseed (40%), 390,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds (30%) and 377,000 tonnes of soybeans (29%) were delivered abroad.

UCAB also clarified that the export of vegetable oils in November increased by 3% compared to the previous month, to 515,800 tonnes, of which 94% of supplies fell on sunflower oil (484,000 tonnes) and 6% on soybean oil (31,000 tonnes). In turn, the export of sunflower and soybean cake and meal decreased by 21%, to 342,000 tonnes, including 88% was sunflower processing waste (300,100 tonnes), and 12% – soybeans (41,000 tonnes).

"Problems in the operation of the grain corridor, caused by significant delays in inspections by the Russian side and the formation of queues from ships, force us to focus again on the development of alternative routes, although this process has not stopped. However, it should be taken into account that the cost of logistics via alternative routes is several times higher than the cost of shipping from the ports of Odesa region, and it is the sea route that is the most economically feasible and efficient today," UCAB summed up.
