Ukraine exports almost 26 mln tonnes of grain since start of 2022/2023 MY – Agrarian Ministry

KYIV. Jan 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – From the beginning of the 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, July-June) and until January 27, Ukraine had exported 25.99 million tonnes of grain crops, including 14.69 million tonnes of corn (56.5% of total supplies), 9.4 million tonnes of wheat (36.2%) and 1.8 million tonnes of barley (6.9%).

According to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the rate of grain exports since the beginning of the current MY is 30.86% lower than in the same period of the previous MY, since from July 1, 2021 to January 27, 2022, some 37.6 million tonnes were supplied abroad. At the same time, the previous maximum export rates were reached on January 9, 2023, when the backlog from last year’s figures was the lowest for the entire MY – 29.61%.

According to the agency, this week, for the first time since the beginning of MY 2022/2023, corn exports began to lag behind the indicators of the previous MY – by January 27, 2023, some 14.69 million tonnes were delivered to foreign markets, while on January 27, 2022 this figure reached 14.95 million tonnes. In addition, since the beginning of 2022/2023 MY, Ukraine exported 9.4 million tonnes of wheat (1.78 times less compared to the same period a year earlier), 1.8 million tonnes of barley (3.02 times less), 12,500 tonnes of rye (12.2 times less) and 80,800 tonnes of flour (up 28%).

It is specified that since the beginning of January, Ukraine has exported 3.24 million tonnes of grain, including 2.07 million tonnes of corn, 990,000 tonnes of wheat, 173,000 tonnes of barley and 11,800 tonnes of flour.
