Ukraine exports almost 20 mln tonnes of grain since start of 2022/2023 MY – Agrarian Ministry

KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Since the beginning of the 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, July-June) and until December 14, Ukraine had exported 19.66 million tonnes of grain crops, of which 10.76 million tonnes of corn (54.7% of total supplies), 7.29 million tonnes of wheat (37%) and 1.53 million tonnes of barley (7.8%).

According to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the rate of grain exports since the beginning of the current MY is 31.49% lower than in the same period of the last MY (from July 1, 2020 to December 14, 2021 – 28.71 million tonnes were delivered abroad). For comparison, the previous maximum export rates were reached on December 2, when the backlog from last year’s values was 29.84%, the lowest in the last few months.

According to the agency, from the beginning of 2022/2023 MY to December 14, 2022, Ukraine exported 7.29 million tonnes of wheat (2.09 times less compared to the same period a year earlier), 1.53 million tonnes of barley (3.3 times less), 12,200 tonnes of rye (7.1 times less). At the same time, the pace of corn exports exceeded last year’s volumes: 10.76 million tonnes were exported, which is 33.1% higher than in 2021/2022 MY, and flour exports amounted to 62,200 tonnes (up 9.3%).

It is specified that in general, since the beginning of December, 1.78 million tonnes of grain crops have been exported from Ukraine, including 1.19 million tonnes of corn, 528,000 tonnes of wheat, 60,000 tonnes of barley, and 6,800 tonnes of flour.
