Ukraine exports 41.3 mln tonnes of agricultural products during war – Ministry of Agrarian Policy

KYIV. Jan 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and until January 15, 2023, Ukraine supplied 41.3 million tonnes of agricultural products to foreign markets, including 16.7 million tonnes of corn, almost 9 million tonnes of wheat and 3.4 million tonnes of sunflower oil, according to the website of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food on Thursday.

According to it, for January 1-15, 2022, some 2.33 million tonnes of agricultural products were exported from the country, which is 1.3 million tonnes, or 36%, less than in the first half of December 2022. In terms of crops, 1.1 million tonnes of corn (31% less versus December 1-15) and 437,000 tonnes of wheat (halving) were shipped during this period.

Export of sunflower oil seeds for January 1-15, 2023 also halved, to 148,000 tonnes, soybeans – 200,000 tonnes (up by 24%), meal of all types – 199,000 tonnes (less by 21%), sunflower seeds – 93,000 tonnes (reduction by 2.5 times), barley – 72,000 tonnes (less by 25%), rapeseed – 44,000 tonnes (reduction by 4 times), and soybean oil – 11,000 tonnes (unchanged).

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in the first half of January 2023, some 48.3% of foreign supplies of agricultural products were corn, 18.7% wheat, 8.6% meal, 8.5% soybeans, 6.4% sunflower oil, 4% sunflower seeds, 3.1% barley, 1.9% rapeseed and 1.8% soybean oil.

At the same time, on January 1-15, 2022, some 71% of agricultural products were exported from Ukraine through seaports – 1.66 million tonnes, 21% by rail (490,000 tonnes), and 7% by road (160,000 tonnes).
