Ukraine exports 20.6 mln tonnes of grain since start of 2022/2023 MY – Agrarian Ministry
KYIV. Dec 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – From the beginning of the 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, July-June) and until December 21, Ukraine had exported 20.61 million tonnes of grain crops, including 11.32 million tonnes of corn (54.9% of total supplies), 7.65 million tonnes of wheat (37.1%) and 1.55 million tonnes of barley (7.5%).
According to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the rate of grain exports since the beginning of the current MY is 31.61% lower than in the same period of the last MY (from July 1, 2020 to December 21, 2021, some 30.12 million tonnes were delivered abroad). For comparison, the previous maximum export rates were reached on December 2, when the backlog from last year’s values was 29.84%, the lowest in the last few months.
According to the agency, from the beginning of the 2022/2023 MY to December 21, 2022, Ukraine exported 7.65 million tonnes of wheat (2.04 times less compared to the same period a year earlier), 1.55 million tonnes of barley (3.29 times less) and 12,400 tonnes of rye (7 times less). At the same time, the pace of corn exports exceeded last year’s volumes: 11.32 million tonnes were exported, which is 24.9% more than in 2021/2022 MY on the same date, and flour exports amounted to 65,700 tonnes (up 13.1%).
It is specified that in general, since the beginning of December, 2.72 million tonnes of grain crops have been exported from Ukraine, including 1.75 million tonnes of corn, 877,000 tonnes of wheat, 84,000 tonnes of barley and 10,400 tonnes of flour.
As follows from the data of the ministry, for the week of December 14-21, an average of 134,300 tonnes of grain per day was supplied to foreign markets, while for the previous period of December 2-14, this figure was an average of 148,600 tonnes of grain per day, for November 28-December 2 – 222,500 tonnes of grain per day, for November 18-28 – 124,000 tonnes/day. Thus, the average daily export rates for the reporting period December 14-21 decreased by 9.6% compared to the previous period December 2-14.
