Ukraine enhances orbital surveillance of its territory – Polyakov's EOS
KYIV. May 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian supplier of satellite analytics based on artificial intelligence, Max Polyakov’s Earth Observing System (EOS) company, provided Ukraine with the opportunity to receive high-quality satellite imagery thanks to a commercial agreement with the satellite company GEOSAT.
"Thanks to an agreement reached more than a month ago, Ukraine has de facto owned a multispectral optical satellite and receives exclusive satellite data from GEOSAT 2. Due to the risks of the information agenda in the face of military aggression, the agreement has only just appeared in public," EOS said in a report released on Thursday.
GEOSAT 2 became the first satellite that already transmits operational observation data on the territory of Ukraine exclusively for use of the country.
"The satellite is in orbit and allows to receive data with ultra-high resolution, previously inaccessible to Ukraine. It also provides the opportunity to take pictures at a distance of 100 kilometers from the state borders of Ukraine. Launched into orbit in January 2022, the Ukrainian satellite Sich-2-30 has many times lower resolution," the company said.
Thus, Ukraine has enhanced surveillance from orbit over its territory.
"Our access to GEOSAT 2 will be useful for all sectors of the Ukrainian economy that use satellite analytics in their activities in the long run. However, access to satellite data is very important for operational military intelligence," EOS founder, international entrepreneur and philanthropist Max Polyakov said.
As reported, in early March 2022, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, together with EOS Data Analytics (EOSDA), called on international companies and organizations involved in remote sensing of the Earth to provide Ukraine with data from SAR satellites to track the movement of enemy troops.
EOS is part of the investment portfolio of Noosphere Ventures, a provider of artificial intelligence-based satellite analytics. The company’s technologies cover the Earth remote sensing solution for making informed decisions in the fields of agriculture, mining, oil, security and defense, and other areas.
GEOSAT is an Earth observation company that provides imagery and data products from its own satellites and satellites of partner companies.
