Ukraine cuts copper imports by 64.3%, exports by 56.3% in 2022

KYIV. Jan 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In 2022, Ukrainian enterprises reduced imports of copper and copper products in value terms by 64.3% compared to the previous year, to $65.370 million.

According to customs statistics released by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, exports of copper and copper products over the past year plunged by 56.3% to $90.245 million.

In December, copper and copper products were imported to the tune of $6.107 million, worth $6.956 million were exported.

In addition, Ukraine in 2022 reduced imports of nickel and products from it by 49.9% compared to 2021, to $59.754 million (in December it was $0.668 million), aluminum and products from it by 33.4%, to $340.398 million ($29.457 million). At the same time, it reduced the import of lead and products from it by 66.6%, to $2.839 million ($12,000).

Imports of tin and products from it fell by 33.5%, to $3.312 million ($171,000), and imports of zinc and zinc products also dropped by 58.7%, to $38.690 million ($4.386 million).

Exports of aluminum and products from it in 2022 fell by 42.7% compared to 2021, to $96.972 million (in December it was $6.330 million), lead and products from it by 68.7%, to $11.970 million ($1.396 million), nickel and products by 73.9%, to $1.268 million ($0.1 million).

Export of zinc for the reporting period totaled $1.331 million (in December it was $11,000), while in 2021 it was $550,000. Export of tin and products last year amounted to $424,000 (in December it was $1,000) compared to $346,000 for the previous year.
