Ukraine counts on Britain's help in matters of security guarantees and reconstruction – Ambassador
KYIV. Sept 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine is counting on the UK’s assistance in matters of security guarantees and reconstruction, Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK Vadym Prystaiko said.
"Indeed, the president discussed [with British Prime Minister Liz Truss] all issues of both support now and what will happen to Ukraine after we win. And here two issues are most important, and in this we are counting on Britain’s help: what the security guarantees are, in what form they can be provided, and secondly, how we can recover as a state, as a people, as a civilization. I hope these two issues will be on the agenda next year," Prystaiko said at a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center in Lviv on Wednesday.
The Ambassador added that preparations are already underway for the next Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine, which will be held in London in 2023.
"Meetings are held in the City, with big businesses, financial corporations, the UK government to consolidate the necessary financial cushion, and at the same time how to improve the conditions in which business exists, in particular foreign, to give it the maximum opportunity to open up," Prystaiko said.
The diplomat stressed that Britain is a friend of Ukraine in NATO, and that work is underway on separate projects that could improve cooperation between Ukraine and Britain in the triangle with Poland.
"In addition to the problems that exist and the opportunities that NATO will open, we are working on individual projects that could improve our cooperation, for example, in the triangle with Poland. There are also other projects that, I hope, will be disclosed in the near future, in particular, during Liz Truss’ visit to Ukraine," Prystaiko said.
