Ukraine conducting military exercises in regions bordering Belarus – AFU General Staff

KYIV. Sept 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In response to the command and staff exercises of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Ukraine conducts a range military exercises in the borderline districts of the regions bordering Belarus, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksiy Hromov has said.

"Today, the Armed Forces of Belarus launched command and staff exercises with the participation of commands of the military units and western operational command. In response to this, we have organized and are conducting a range of exercises in the borderline districts of the regions bordering Belarus," he told a press briefing at the Military Media Center on Thursday.

The units of the AFU, the National Guard, the National Police and the National Border Guard Service are involved in the exercises.

The AFU monitor the measures taken by the neighbor country’s armed forces while moving its troops and during operational training.

Hromov also said there are no signs of enemy offensive grouping in Volyn, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv directions.

"Six battalions of the Armed Forces of Belarus are deployed and carryy out tasks in the borderline districts along the state border of Ukraine," he said.
