Ukraine condemns anti-democratic actions in Brazil – Kuleba
KYIV. Jan 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine condemns the anti-democratic actions in Brazil and declares its full support for the democratically elected government of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has stressed.
“Ukraine condemns anti-democratic actions in Brazil. Democratic institutions must be inviolable. We reiterate our full support to the democratically elected government of of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva,” the minister said on Twitter.
Earlier it was reported that thousands of supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro broke into the parliament, the Supreme Court and the residence of the head of state on Sunday.
The demonstrators broke through the police cordon around these government buildings, standing not far from each other in the capital of the country. The president himself was not in the capital during the riots.
Bolsonaro’s supporters do not recognize his defeat in the elections last year, and regularly hold protests demanding the return of the ex-president to power.
Earlier in January, Brazil hosted the inauguration of the new President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro was not present at the ceremony, as he left the country.
